Rap superstar Kanye West's mother has died at the age of 58.
Dr Donda West passed away on Saturday in a Los Angeles hospital.
A spokesperson for West confirmed the death saying "The family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief."
There was no word on the cause of her death.
Kanye had just landed in London when he learned of his mother's death. He immediately flew to Los Angeles to join fellow family members.
The rapper had a close relationship with his mother, who raised him as a single mother in Chicago after divorcing his father Ray, a former Black Panther, when Kanye was 3.
Word is she was having plastic surgery..

The two-week-old twins of actor Dennis Quaid were recovering in a Los Angeles hospital on Wednesday after mistakenly being given a massive overdose of a blood thinning drug. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, one of the United States' leading hospitals, APOLOGIZED on Wednesday for what it called the "preventable error" that led to the twins and another unidentified child being given 10,000 units of the anti-coagulant Heparin, instead of the normal 10 units given to babies. Supposedly, the singer went into cardiac arrest and the paramedics had to administer CPR!!!
His mother is even on the way to visit him!!!

Jacko pulled a similar stunt when he was getting ready for his big HBO special in '95 when he "collapsed" at rehearsal!
He was dragging his heels on that just like his upcoming 50 date London residency at the 02 Arena, of which he already postponed the first few dates!!!
