Santa Barbara Vacation Rentals' Best Kept Secrets: Top 8 Family Spring Break Vacation Tips

If you've got kids in school, your family spring break vacation has special meaning for you. The kids get a week off and it's probably the only real vacation they (and you) get during those six long months between the winter holidays and summer. Everyone needs a family spring break vacation. You've marked off the family's spring break vacation dates on your calendar months in advance, and everyone is jonesing to hit the road.

How can you make the most of this precious spring break? You want something fun, enriching and affordable. What you need for your family spring break vacation is a Santa Barbara vacation rental home.

Santa Barbara Vacation Rentals' Family Spring Break Vacation Tip #1 - Escape The Rowdy Crowd: The phrase "spring break vacation" conjures up TV news footage of drunken bashes and out of control college students trashing hotels. When you're planning a family spring break vacation, party central is the last place you want to be. The simple way to avoid these rowdy spring break revelers is to go where they aren't. Santa Barbara is a great place to take your family on spring break, and a Santa Barbara vacation rental is the ideal place to base your trip.

Santa Barbara Vacation Rentals' Family Spring Break Vacation Tip #2 - Control Your Environment For Half The Cost: For a family, the simple tactical advantages of a Santa Barbara vacation rental are enormous. You get double the square footage for your family spring break vacation dollar. You get a two- to three-bedroom beautifully appointed home, instead of a generic hotel room with paper thin walls that will allow you and your children to hear everything the party animals are doing in the next room. (Aside from the noise level, there are some discussions you don't want to have with your young kids: "Mommy, what's a Jell-o shot?").

By using a Santa Barbara vacation rental home for your family spring break vacation, you control the environment. You share no walls, you have your own porch, your own backyard, your own place to breathe without having to keep an eye on questionable hotel guests. You have your own media center, your own big screen TV, a place where you and your family can have all the loud fun and wholesome games you want without having to worry about someone banging on the wall. You get your choice of Santa Barbara vacation rental home each with its own view, unique style (Greek, Spanish Mission, Modern, Italian, French, etc.). Beyond doubling your family's spring break vacation space for the same money, a Santa Barbara vacation rental home has a unique character so your kids will recall the details of your family spring break vacation for years to come.

Is there a career ladder for the LASD (Los Angeles Sheriff's Department)?
The LAPD has a career ladder... Patrol officer -> Detective/Sergeant -> lieutenant -> captain -> commander deputy chief -> chief... is there a similar ladder for the LASD or are there really no promotions available to sheriffs? Thanks alright... i guess my question was a bit shortsighted... but more to the point then is there a site somewhere that lists the promotions and would-be salaries of said positions? maybe with descriptions of the positions> ie: the lapd has http://www.joinlapd.com/career_ladder.html but all i can find from the LASD website is http://www.lasd.org/recruitment/deputy-recruit2.html which is more entry-level information. Thanks a lot for the help in any case :)

Can a civilian use "For Law Enforcement Use Only," Ammo?
I bought a house I could afford. Which here in Los Angeles, meant a very high crime neighborhood. I got burglar bars, a fence, a big dog, and floodlights. And a revolver. Ammo, particularly hollow point ammo is practically impossible to buy right now in Los Angeles. The landlord of the house next door is a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy. I mentioned this problem, and he told me he could sell me some ammo. I own a police surplus .38 Special. It is a Smith and Wesson Model 64. It is stainless steel, with a heavy four inch barrel, double action only, with a bobbed hammer and black rubber grips that say "Pachmayr" on them. The gun is marked "NY-1," and is supposedly New York Police Surplus. My neighbor's landlord is willing to sell me some old ammo he bought. Apparently, at some time in the past, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department switched to 9mm, and so he doesn't need the .38 ammo he bought. He stockpiled a lot of .38 ammo. I think his department let him buy it at reduced prices. The ammo is in a red and white box and says "Federal," on it. It is marked on the side: "+P+ High Velocity 110 Gr. Controlled Expansion .38 Special FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY." The bullets are marked on the bottom of the cartridge "L E and then F C" The ammo is over ten years old, but he gave me some rounds, and when I fired them, they all worked just fine, and despite their age, the people at that range said they were loaded "hot," and according to the rangemaster, by the noise and flash, they were "pretty strong .38's" The guy said he would sell me all the boxes I wanted for ten bucks a box of 50. So my questions are these: 1) Will firing a lot of these hurt my gun? 2) His department hasn't used these in ten years. Hollowpoint bullets are perfectly legal in my state. Is there any reason I couldn't buy or use these bullets? His department has changed from .38 Special to 9mm. 3) How long do bullets stay good? 4) Is this a good deal? It's almost impossible to buy hollowpoint bullets right now? 5) Should I stock up? Or just buy a few boxes? . Steven F Deep Emotion Response. Wonder why you are so terribly upset.

Self-Sponsoring through Law Enforcement (Police) Academy in Texas. am I being wise?
I am moving from California out to TX in just a few weeks and I am planning on putting myself through a law enforcement academy out there. I was in the U.S. Air Force but was medically discharged for allergies and I have over 65 credit hours towards a criminal justice degree. I have also been involved with a cadet program with my local county sheriff dept. I come with letters of recommendation from many officers as well as a Captain with Los Angeles Sheriff Dept. Here is my reasoning behind putting myself through an academy: It makes me more marketable as it shows my discipline and my will to learn on my own dime and it also shows how serious I am about getting involved in L.E. I feel that with my experience and icing it with my TCLEOSE cert and academy graduation I will be very marketable in this academy. I basically wanted to ask everyone's opinion on my idea and make sure it is what I want to do and if it appears to be beneficial in today's economy to put myself through under my circumstances...? Thanks all! I am looking more so to get with a smaller department, maybe a sheriff's dept. I am moving out from CA, don't know A TON about TX, but have always enjoyed my time out there and its a heck of a lot better than CA for me! I know that many areas are hiring however.
